HBC announces Lego homebuilding winners

Logan Engelstad won first place in his age division as part of the Home Builders Care of F-M Foundation Lego Homebuilding Competition. Special to the Pioneer.

Home Builders Care of F-M Foundation hosted its Lego Homebuilding Competition at the Red River Valley Home and Garden Show in February, which included Logan Engelstad of West Fargo.

The competitors are split into four age brackets, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12. Three children in each bracket are recognized for their construction triumphs.

Engelstad won the 5-6 age group. He is a kindergartener at Lodoen Kindergarten Center in West Fargo.

According to Logan's mom Kristi Engelstad, Legos are a big hobby of his, "He wants to be a builder when he grows up, so this kind of fit right in with what he wants to be."

Engelstad says Logan loved competing in this year's competition and she's positive they'll be back in 2018.

Carter Stumpf won the 7-8 age group, while his big brother, Jack, won the 9-10 bracket.

Carter is in first grade and Jack is a fifth grader; both attend Nativity Elementary School in Fargo.

Flugstad won the 11-12 age group. Flugstad is in seventh grade at Carl Ben Eielson Middle School. Some of his hobbies include making YouTube videos, Legos, and collecting old video games and video games systems.

This year more than 70 kids competed in the building block contest.

First place won a $100 Visa gift card, second place received a $50 Visa gift card and third place got a $25 Visa gift card.
