Starkey foundation funding promotes hearing aids

Starkey Hearing Foundation has announced it has raised more than $5 million during the ninth annual "So the World May Hear" Awards Gala held Sunday, July 12. The funds will enable the Foundation to distribute 50,000 hearing aids to children around the world. David Kruse, who operates Sheyenne Hearing Services at 205 Sheyenne St. in West Fargo, is the local Starkey dealer.

Elton John, Billy Crystal, Tony Bennett, Nita Whitaker, Ethan Bortnick and Gladys Knight provided entertainment for the evening's festivities. In addition, the star-studded event drew celebrity attendees including JC Chasez, Sam Moore, Lou Ferrigno, Arnold Palmer, Paige Hemmis, Alan Kalter, and many more. This year's award recipients included comedian Norm Crosby and the 1961 New York Yankees, represented by Moose Skowron, Whitey Ford, Ralph Terry, Bob Turley and Mickey Mantle's son David Mantle.

Starkey Hearing Foundation is the global leader in the gift of hearing, delivering instruments via hearing missions in 86 countries. Since 2000, the Foundation has distributed nearly 340,000 hearing instruments to those in need around the world.
