Receive free brakes in exchange for backpack, school supplies

Fargo Automotive & Transmission, 218 E. Main Ave., West Fargo, has found a unique and creative way to support local students through the United Way of Cass-Clay School Supply Drive.

The business will be offering free brakes in exchange for a donation of school supplies toward the United Way of Cass-Clay School Supply Drive during a special promotion running through July 31.

During the promotion, owner Joel Endres will provide premium brake pads or brake shoes and the labor for installation of pads at no charge.  In exchange, the owner of the vehicle must bring a new backpack and school supplies to be donated to the United Way of Cass-Clay Supply Drive. The promotion will run for the entire month of July and applies to most cars and light trucks.

Last year Endres and his staff replaced 91 sets of brakes during the promotion and contributed many new backpacks and mounds of school supplies. This is the third year Endres is offering the promotion. Inquiries can be made by calling Fargo Automotive & Transmission at 701-281-0649.

The United Way of Cass-Clay School Supply Drive officially kicks off on Thursday, July 15, during a press conference scheduled for 9:30 a.m. at the Fargodome. Donations sites across the community will also open on July 15.

This year, supplies will be distributed to local families and students in need on Saturday, August 14, at the Fargodome and on Thursday, August 19, at the West Fargo Veterans Arena and the Moorhead Center Mall.

For a complete list of supplies needed, donation site locations, and distribution details, visit or call 701-237-5050.

Last year the 2009 United Way of Cass-Clay School Supply Drive equipped over 4,100 K-12 students in Cass and Clay counties with a new backpack and set of age-appropriate school supplies.
