Perfect shopping experience

Connie Bruse starting mulling over the idea several weeks ago of establishing a fun event for the community of Horace that could evolve into a yearly recurring happening.

As an avid artist and owner of Inspired Designs, specializing in fiber art, Bruse thought it would be great to feature local talent by securing as many Horace and Hickson people as possible to participate who either sell art or offer other products as a way of promoting small businesses.

She was assisted in the planning process by her friend Donna Holsing of Wild Tree, who offers an organic and healthy food business.

After considerable thought and careful planning the first-ever "Winter Extravaganza" will take place Saturday, Feb. 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Horace Fire Department Training Center located on Main Street in Horace.

The event will feature a variety of local artists and vendors touting the message "come shop with us."

Along with Bruse and Holsing, other contributing vendors will include: Just Bliss, Scentsy, Miche, Joy's Jazz, Tupperware, Avon, Mary Kay, Close To My Heart, Driftwood Art, Celebrating Home, Crafts, and Cotton Lake.

Bruse said the daylong extravaganza will be offering quality vendors with great product lines for everyone's convenient shopping needs.

Those attending will also have the opportunity to visit and socialize as complimentary lemonade and cookies will be served.

Bruse said she is excited about the big day. "We think it will provide a much needed outlet/ venue for our small businesses to promote our products. We hope to be able to do this every year. On that note, there is already a huge waiting list for next year."
