Video game arcade, bulk candy store coming to West Acres
FARGO — Game On, an arcade-style entertainment venue, and Legacy Sweets, a bulk candy and retro soda store, are the latest businesses to announce plans to open in West Acres Shopping Center.
Game On will open in the space formerly home to Johnny Rocket's in the food court. According to a West Acres blog post earlier this month, the arcade will feature the "latest in themed video games, innovative redemption games, self-merchandisers and more."
Rick LaFleur, one of Game On's owners, said the arcade will operate via a stored value card system rather than coins. Players will be able to play multiple games with one card and accumulate points. Those points can then be redeemed for prizes through an automated system.
LaFleur said the arcade will feature "a broad spectrum of games that will appeal to all ages."
He hopes to open June 1.
Legacy Sweets, a candy, snacks, retro sodas and candy-themed store, will also open this summer in the space currently occupied by Stabo Scandinavian Imports. The store will be owned by Brad and Mistaya Ruoho, the couple who opened Legacy Toys in West Acres in November.
"If you're familiar with Legacy Toys, you know that they focus on the experience, and we know that they'll do the same with Legacy Sweets," West Acres' blog said.
Stabo announced plans in December to move when its lease was up to a Kilbourne-owned property at 406 Broadway in downtown Fargo.
