Concordia College to offer free tax preparation
MOORHEAD — Free tax preparation will be available Feb. 5 to March 15 on Concordia College's campus with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
IRS-certified student volunteers will prepare basic tax returns 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays in Grant Center Room 118. No appointment is needed, and free parking is available.
VITA is a program supported by the IRS that has certified student volunteers prepare basic tax returns. The program offers a quick and convenient way to receive tax refunds through free electronic filing. The mission of VITA is to provide free basic tax return preparation for those with low-to-moderate incomes (less than $54,000 a year) and elderly taxpayers.
Those filing will need to bring W-2 forms, photo identification, a Social Security card and a blank check or bank account and routing numbers for direct deposit. For married couples, both spouses must be present.
The site will not be open Feb. 26 and March 1 as the campus will be closed for spring break. For questions, contact Ronald Twedt, the site coordinator, at 218-299-3484 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
