FARGO — The annual Fill the Dome food drive will supply more than 274,000 meals to hungry people in the region.

Fargo-Moorhead high school students collected a total of 185,128 pounds of food at the Fargodome this week for the Great Plains Food Bank.

Students collected 198,027 pounds last year, and more than 214,000 pounds were gathered in 2015.

Since Fill the Dome's inception in 2007, 2.2 million pounds of food have been collected.

More than $40,000 in sponsorships were collected this year to benefit those in need — nearly doubling last year's dollar figure. Over the past 11 years, Fill the Dome has received a total of $500,000 in donations.
