Bonnema receives Mayville SU scholarship

Camran Bonnema of West Fargo has been awarded a Freshman Honor Scholarship for the 2013-14 school year at Mayville State University. Camran is the son of Tim and Jody Bonnema and will graduate this spring from West Fargo High School. He plans to pursue a major inbiology. He also plans to be involved with the Comets baseball team.

Mayville State scholarships are awarded based on previous academic performance and participation in extracurricular activities and reflect the student’s past accomplishments and potential contributions to the Mayville State community.

Mayville State University, the nation’s first Tablet PC campus, is a personable rural campus. Featuring technology-enriched education in which a full-time, on-campus student is issued a Tablet PC notebook computer. MSU is nationally identified for teacher education, the largest academic program on campus. Business administration and computer information systems are also very popular majors on a campus known for the personal attention provided to its students.

Local students graduate from NDSCS

The North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, N.D., awarded degrees, diplomas and certificates to 74 graduates including several local individuals at the conclusion of the 2012 fall semester.

The graduates and their degrees include: Jennifer Bjerke, A.A.S., Practical Nursing, Mapleton; Troy Haman, A.A.S., Business Management; and Chelsie Hust, A.A.S., Practical Nursing, both West Fargo.

Mallett graduates from School of Mines

Megan Mallett, West Fargo, was among nearly 100 students who graduated from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology during its Dec. 15, 2012, commencement program at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center theater. Mines alumnus Senator Craig Tieszen delivered the commencement address, sharing insight and advice gleaned from his illustrious career and experiences in public service. Mallett earned a bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering.

Paul receives MSUMoorhead scholarship

Rebecca Paul, Harwood, has received an $8,000 President’s Honors Scholarship from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She is the daughter of Brett and Nancy Paul.

The President’s Honor Scholarship awards $2,000 for the freshman year and requires a high school class rank in the top five percent and a score of 28 or above on the ACT exam. It’s renewable for four years with a 3.5 GPA.

Minnesota State University Moorhead is a comprehensive regional university enrolling approximately 7,500 students. MSU Moorhead is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.
