Lucas John Byzewski has received a $2,000 President's Honor Scholarship from Minnesota State University Moorhead. Byzewski is the son of Holly and Kevin Byzewski, West Fargo, and intends to major in computer information technology.
The President's Honor Scholarship awards $2,000 for the freshman year and requires a rank in the top five percent of high school class and a score of 28 or above on the ACT exam. It's renewable for a second year with a 3.5 GPA.
Amanda Mickelson, daughter of Marvin and Chris Mickelson, West Fargo, was initiated into the Phi Kappa Phi national academic honor society. Mickelson is majoring in Speech Language and Hearing Sciences at Minnesota State University Moorhead and will graduate in May of 2011.
Phi Kappa Phi is a national academic honor society that recognizes a student's high scholastic achievement and good character. No more than the top ten percent of graduate students and of the senior class and the top 7.5 percent of the junior class receive the membership nomination.
Valerie Pherson of West Fargo was among students receiving degrees from Dakota State University's spring commencement on Saturday, May 8. Valerie earned a bachelor of science degree in Digital Arts and Design.
