July 17, 1930 - July 14, 2009
Adeline Almer left this world for her eternal home on Tuesday, July 14, 2009. She was 78. She passed away at Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo, N.D., surrounded by her loving family.
Adeline was born to John and Christina (Hausauer) Wahl on a farmstead in Sheridan County, N.D., on July 17, 1930. She grew up on a farm near Lincoln Valley, N.D. with ten brothers and sisters. On May 3, 1948, she was united in marriage to Melvin Almer and together they raised six children in West Fargo. Adeline was self- employed for many years in the cleaning business.
She enjoyed needlepoint, shopping, and going to garage sales. She also enjoyed cooking German food for her children and grandchildren. Quite often you could find her enjoying one of many favored television programs. For several years, Adeline and her family enjoyed spending time at Golden Eagle Resort on Big Pine Lake near Perham, Minn.
In 2005, she was admitted into Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo, N.D. Adeline was very active in the nursing home and met many new friends. She spent her time playing games, attending social functions, and visiting with family and friends. Adeline will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Taryn, her parents, three brothers Lawrence, Eugene and Leonard, and two sisters, Alice Mantz and Violet Baron.
Adeline is survived by her husband, Melvin, of sixty one years; three sons Ron Almer, Turtle Lake, N.D., Rick (Sara) Almer, West Fargo, Terry (Tara) Almer, Fargo; three daughters, Phyllis (Frank) Baumgardner, St. Paul, Minn., Dorothy (Larry) Kraft, West Fargo, Vicki (Art) Eberhardt, West Fargo; two brothers, Jerry (Donna) Wahl, Dickinson, N.D., Robert (Deanna) Wahl, Bismarck, N.D.; three sisters, Betty Wagner and Beverly (Eugene) Amelsberg, and Shirley (Elmer) Zimmerman, all of Bismarck, N.D. She also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Villa Maria Nursing Home for taking care of Adeline when we were not able to. The people at the nursing home became her second family. We also wish to extend our gratitude to Hospice of the Red River Valley for the end of life care that they provided.
