Alma E. "Dolly" Bardill Newburgh, 96, died April 17, 2011, in Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo.
Dolly was born on Oct. 22, 1914 in Marion, S.D., to Martin and Alma A. Bardill. They moved to Dubuque, Iowa, when she was a young child. She grew up and graduated from high school and attended college in Dubuque. She worked as a secretary for several years before marrying Albert C. Newburgh on Aug. 3, 1940. It was in Dubuque where they raised their son, Paul. In the early '60s she and Albert moved to northwestern Wisconsin near Webster. They loved the quiet lifestyle and having nature at their doorstep. Albert died in October of 2003 after 63 years of marriage. Dolly remained in her home until January of 2008. She lived for a short time in Grantsburg and Frederic, Wisc., before moving to Bethany Retirement Living in October of 2008.
Dolly is survived by her son, Paul (Diane) West Fargo; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Fargo, Mark, West Fargo, and Steven (Stacy) Mandan N.D. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
Dolly was preceded in death by her husband Albert, her parents, brother Martin Bardill, and sister Margaurite Seiler.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 28, at 3 p.m., at the Mavis Whiting Chapel in Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo.
Her final resting place will be Faith Lutheran Columbarium, West Fargo.
