Annual Rustad Horse Show set for Sept. 22
The 10th Annual Speed Rustad Memorial Horse Show and Jackpot Barrel Race will be held Saturday, Sept. 22 with registration at 9 a.m. and the start time at 10 a.m. The location for the show is one mile south of Kindred, one mile west on Highway 46, then two miles south on Richland County 3.
The event is for age groups 12 and under and 13 and over with events including: leadline for 5 and under; walk trot pleasure, 9 and under and may not be leadline; western pleasure; senior western pleasure, 30 and over; egg and spoon, keyhole; pole bending; flag race; barrel racing, sack race; senior surprise event, 30 and over; and open jackpot barrel race immediately following the show, $20 entry fee/$100 add purse.
The event is put on entirely free for anyone who wants to have fun with their horses and their family. This year is special because of it is the tenth anniversary of building the horseshow arena in memory of Speed Rustad with the proceeds going to his children in his honor.
His daughter Dawn Rustad stated "He loved his kids and grandkids and their major interest in their horses and rodeo, so we figured he would love it if we provided a fun family day for others with their horses as well."
