Apparent scammer claims to raise funds for Walaker's mayoral campaign

FARGO - Police here are warning the public about an apparent scam in which the caller claims to be soliciting funds for Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker's re-election campaign.

Walaker notified police of the call and would like to let residents know that he hasn't authorized anyone to solicit funds by telephone on his behalf, according to a news release from Fargo police.

The caller asked for a minimum $15 contribution.
