Armed robbery occurs Sunday at local convenience store
An individual got away with an undisclosed amount of cash following an armed robbery early Sunday morning at the Kum n Go, located on the corner of 9th Street East and 13th Avenue South.
A male entered the store at 3:48 a.m. and pointed a pistol at the male clerk, demanding money. When the clerk opened the till, the robber helped himself and then quickly fled on foot. The clerk was not injured.
A customer about to fill up with gas witnessed the individual in the store and leaving, and attempted to follow the culprit by car traveling northwest. He lost the individual when he ran between buildings.
The West Fargo Police Department responded to the incident and was assisted by a dog from the Moorhead Police Department K-9 unit who tracked the suspect several blocks until losing his scent.
Detective/Sergeant Greg Warren from the West Fargo Police Department said the incident mirrored another armed robbery that occurred later Sunday at a Fargo convenience store, with the description of the person in the incident similar in demeanor and stature. The suspect in the West Fargo incident is described as 5'5'' tall with a small build, wearing a red hooded jacket and a handerchief covering his face.
Investigation into the armed robbery continues. Warren said the Department is trying to piece things together and is doing background checks on people they've dealt with in the past, as well as keeping a close eye on businesses that are open at night.
