I urge West Fargo residents to attend tonight's Candidate Forum to meet the seven candidates running for the West Fargo School Board. With three open seats on the Board, the individuals elected to fill these positions will have a big part in helping shape the School District's future.
Candidates include Nancy Kruse, Kay Kiefer, Mark Bourdon, Ben Koppelman, James Osmanski, Patti Stedman, and Troy Aswege. Kruse and Aswege are currently serving on the Board, and seeking re-election.
The Forum is being sponsored by the West Fargo Education Association. According to Joan Connor, coordinator of the event, the Forum will last 90 minutes, beginning with a five minute opening statement from each School Board candidate, followed by questions from the panel. WFEA hopes the Forum will give the citizens of West Fargo an opportunity to learn about the candidates and their thoughts on the direction they see the School District moving.
Serving on the School Board, especially with our rapidly growing District, isn't an easy task. The current School Board members have spent countless hours serving on committees, studying enrollment projections, and trying to keep up with an incredible amount of ongoing decisions, to ensure the District's needs are met.
It is important for all of us to learn as much as we can about each candidate, and make informed choices when we vote on June 11.
The Candidate's Forum will be held at City Hall in the City Commission chambers, beginning at 7 p.m. tonight, Thursday, May 1. Hope to see you there.
