Basketball teams continue winning streaks

Both the Packer boys and girls continued their hot streaks on Friday. The boys won their fourth straight game by beating Fargo North 77-44, while the girls topped the Spartans 64-48 for their third consecutive victory.

The girls were led by senior guard Lexi Lennon, who scored a game-high 16 points, along with seven rebounds. Junior forward Cassidy Thorson was not far behind, scoring 14 points and pulling down nine rebounds.

Junior guard Amanda Levin scored 10 points to go along with her game-high eight assists in 31 minutes of play and senior guard Christine Baltezore had nine points in the game.

The boys got game highs of 20 points and seven rebounds from senior forward Caleb Mattila.

Junior forward Nick Eisenzimmer scored 16 points and senior center Derek Hogenson had 12 for the Packers.

The Packer girls enter 2013 with a 3-1 record, tied for first with Valley City and Fargo Shanley for first place in the Eastern Dakota Conference.

So far in the season, the team has averaged just over 62 points per game, while giving up just over 50 per game.

The boys team's record of 4-1 also puts them in first place, tied with Grand Forks-Red River for the conference lead with Shanley just a half game back.

The Packer boys will head to Grands Forks-Red River tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m., and the girls will head to Grand Forks to face the Roughriders on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

Both teams will host the Valley City Hi-Liners on Tuesday, with the girls' game starting at 5:45 p.m. and the boys game starting at 7:30 p.m.
