Benefit for Gress Friday

Friends, family and Dakota Medical Foundation’s Lend A Hand program will host a fund raising event in support of Justin Gress, 34.

Gress collapsed from heart failure Jan. 12 while at the gym training for the Fargo Marathon. Two fellow gym members saved his life by giving him chest compressions until emergency responders arrived 10 minutes later to restart his heart.

Gress and his wife have five children.

The benefit will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the El Zagal Shrine, 1429 3rd St. N., Fargo. The event will feature a popcorn bar, bake sale, music by Jim Rivers Productions and a cash bar.

Lend a Hand, a program of Dakota Medical Foundation, is providing up to $5,000 in matching funds.
