Benefit set for Ryan Anderson

Family and friends of Ryan K. Anderson of Fargo, are hosting a benefit supper, auction, silent auction and raffle drawing June 3, from 5:30 to 11 p.m., at the El Zagel Shrine, 1429 3rd St., Fargo. Proceeds from the event will help Ryan defray medical expenses stemming from a tragic, Nov. 6, 2010, farm accident that required amputation of his right leg above the knee. Doctors estimate that Ryan will spend close to half a million dollars or more throughout his lifetime on medical care because of the accident.

Ryan, 23, is a high-energy, talented, and extremely caring individual who has and continues to be an inspiration to family, friends and doctors with his amazing spirit and attitude. Ryan had recently graduated from North Dakota State University in Fargo, and had started his career as a grain originator at Agassiz Valley Grain in Barnesville, Minn., when the accident occurred on his family farm near Walcott, N.D. Ryan returned to work only two short weeks after the accident and is determined not to let the event define his life. He is the son of Keith and Cheryl Richard Anderson of Walcott, N.D.

The benefit features a freewill offering supper of burgers and Nancy B's Potato Salad served by the FM Derby Girls. A raffle drawing featuring a Polaris Sportsman 500 4-wheeler, a queen size quilt, gun with scope, and I-Pad, and other numerous live and silent auction items including a guided fishing trip to Devils Lake N.D., a Side-by-Side ATV, and tickets to Vikings, Twins, and Bison football games. The evening will conclude with music by Mega Mix. Matching funds have been approved by the Dakota Medical Foundation and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
