Benefit set for West Fargo infant recovering from transplant

A special benefit is being planned Saturday, Sept. 12, for Aiden Shea, infant son of Chris and Jill Shea of West Fargo. Aiden was born Aug. 6, and suffered acute liver failure from a viral infection just as he was to be discharged from MeritCare, Fargo. He was flown to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he underwent a liver transplant, receiving a quarter of his father's liver on August 17.

Chris is recovering well, and Aiden has been determined out of danger of tissue rejection and should soon be weaned from the ventilator. Chris was expected to return home last weekend.

Friends wanted to do something for the family to help with medical expenses, so this year 80 percent of the proceeds raised from Fall Fest, an annual motorcycle run that benefits the Roger Maris Cancer Center, will go to the Shea family and the remainder to the Roger Maris Center.

Fall Fest, which is open to both motorcyclists, as well as those wishing to drive cars, will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, with registration from 10 a.m. to noon; the ride from noon to 5 p.m., with various stops at Casselton, Kindred, Abercrombie, and Hickson; followed by a meal from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.; and music from 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. The ride will start and end up at Solid Performance, 3931 37th Ave. S., Fargo. Ticket price is $25 per person or $35 per couple which includes bike run, food and concert tickets; or $10 for a concert ticket only.
