Ashley Bixby qualified for the state tournament as an individual and the Packers' golf team finished fourth in the 10-team West Fargo Invitational at the Village Green Golf Course in Moorhead on Tuesday, Sept 18.
Less than a week later, the team played its best round of the season, shooting 370 to finish third in the regional tournament and qualify for the state tournament on Monday morning at Edgewood Golf Course.
Bixby shot an 86 at Village Green, which was good enough for eighth out of 60 competitors. In Monday's meet, she finished fourth out of 42 golfers with a score of 81.
The team as a whole had a score of 387 on Tuesday, putting them behind Fargo Davies, Fargo North and Grand Forks-Red River for fourth place. In the regional tournament, they trimmed 17 strokes off of that score to finish third behind Fargo North and Fargo Davies.
At Village Green, Sierra Peterson had the next best score for the Packers, finishing with a 96, and Kennedy Kraft was close behind with 100, her best score of the season.
Kraft managed to top her season best by nine strokes on Monday, shooting a 91 and finishing ninth. Her score put her, along with Bixby, on the all-region tournament team.
The other counted scores for the Packers at Edgewood included Brittany Rheault, who shot a 96, and Sierra Peterson, who managed a score of 102.
Bixby also earned All-Conference honors, having the fourth-best adjusted stroke average (80.4) in the Eastern Dakota Conference.
The North Dakota State Golf Tournament begins on Monday in Mandan.
