Boys basketball wins fifth straight
The Packer boys basketball team continues its reign at the top of the conference after topping Devils Lake 73-69 on Saturday for their fifth consecutive victory.
Junior forward Melvin Collins had a monster game against the Firebirds, scoring 24 points and tallying seven rebounds, five assists and four steals in 30 minutes of play, leading the team in all of those statistical categories.
Senior forward Travis Schock scored 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds of his own. He also made two of three shots from behind the arc.
The team as a whole managed to make 17 of their 22 free throws.
They also managed 39 rebounds as a team -- 14 of them came on offense -- while the Firebirds only managed 24 boards.
The 11-1 Packers head to Grand Forks on Friday to take on the Red River Roughriders at 7:30 p.m. They then face Fargo North on Tuesday at the same time.
