Boys golf: Packers take second at state
All season, the West Fargo boys golf team battled against East Region rival Fargo South. During the regular season, the Packers bested the Bruins twice and were a mere five points out of first place.
But come tournament time, South was just too good.
West Fargo placed second during last week's state tournament in Bismarck, finishing with a two-day total of 610 strokes. The Packers were 25 strokes off of the champion Bruins.
All-State honors went to Logan Palmer, who placed fourth with a two-day total of 147, and Connor Holland, who placed seventh with 149. Fargo South's Coy Papacheck was overall champion after tying teammate Bill Carlson at 145 and winning in a shootout.
West Fargo' Steve Anderson and Chuck Gad were honored as the 2010 co-coaches of the year.
