Dakota Access 'fully committed' to completing pipeline, opponents plan to stay at camp

Boys golf second in two invitationals

West Fargo’s boys golf team kept their place at the top of the conference rankings last week, thanks to a second-place finish at King’s Walk Country Club in Grand Forks with a score of 304.

They also finished second in a non-conference meet in Detroit Lakes on Friday with a 36-hole score of 624.

Senior Riley Johnson cut through the competition in Grand Forks with a season-best score of 69, which earned him a first-place individual finish.

Senior Nathan Kapaun also made it into the top 10, shooting a 75 – also a personal best on the season – for sixth place.

The team’s other counted scores came from freshman Cole Johnson and Derrick Morris, both of whom shot an 80.

Riley Johnson struck again on Friday. After posing a 72 on the first 18 holes, he managed to shoot a 68 on the second 18. His overall score of 140 was, once again, good enough for first place in the tournament.

Kapaun shot a 77 on his first 18 holes and an 81 on the second, which put him in ninth place.

Cole Johnson posted an 80 in the first round and a 79 in the sceond, putting him in 10th place.

Junior Drew Conzemius rounded out the Packers scoring with an overall score of 167 – 82 in the first round and 85 in the second.

The team will compete at Rose Creek Country Club on Thursday.
