Boys’ hockey season ends in Grand Forks

The Packer boys’ hockey team saw its season come to an end on Thursday with a 7-1 loss to the Grand Forks Central Knights in the consolation semifinals.
“We took it to them early,” Co-head coach Tim Capouch said, “but we made some mistakes down the stretch.”
Senior Wyatt Fretheim had the lone goal for the Packers, with the assist coming from senior Derrick LaCoe.
Senior goalie Bailey Vareberg stopped 23 shots on goal.
At the end of the season, the team was led by juior Tyler Berginski, who had seven goals and 12 assists in 23 games.
“We had a lot of kids that worked really hard, but for some reason, we couldn’t get any goals this season,” Capouch said. “There definitely wasn’t a lack of talent.”
