Car enthusiasts get revved up for weekend show
The annual Toppers Car Show will be held Saturday and Sunday at Veterans Memorial Arena.
“It’s just kind of a different setup, so there is something different for everyone,” Cody Wendelbo, secretary of Toppers Car Club and owner of the Hot Rod Shop of Fargo, said.
But the cool cars won’t be the only celebrities to check out at this year’s car show. Danny “The Count” Kocker and Kevin Mack, hosts of the History Channel’s “Counting Cars,” will also be checking out the show this weekend. The hosting duo will be signing autographs during set times at the show.Wendelbo said car owners from across the country and Canada will be carting their cars to the West Fargo arena, many of which will be shown off for the first time since restoration was finished.“A lot of them have just been finished, so no one has really seen them,” Wendelbo said. “This is the prime time that is just perfect to see them. These are all real high-end cars. Not a lot of drivers, so many will be trailered in.”Wendelbo will be carting two custom cars to the show as well, an Ed Ross replica car and the “Outlaw.”The Ed Roth replica is extremely rare. The car was originally made in the 1960s and only 10 replications exist, Wendelbo’s being No. 8.“It’s rare, there won’t be anything like it around,” Wendelbo said. The weekend’s annual car show is sponsored by the Toppers Car Club, a small base of about of 20 car and enthusiasts from around the metro. The event helps raise money for West Fargo’s annual Cruise Nights.“This is where we make our money and then this goes back to the community in the summer,” Wendelbo said.
