Caramel Sauce:

2 tbsp. butter

1 1/2 cups brown sugar

1 1/2 cups water

Combine butter, brown sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.

Dessert Dumplings:

1 1/2 cups flour

1/4 tsp. salt

1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup butter

1/2 tsp. vanilla

2/3 cup milk

Sift together dry ingredients, cut in butter, add milk and vanilla. Mix quickly and drop by teaspoonfuls into boiling caramel sauce. Cover and cook slowly. Don't lift cover during cooking. Serve hot with the caramel sauce. Top with whipped cream or ice cream. Can be made and cooked while you are having dinner
