Cecelia "Pat" Swanson, 79, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Midwest Home Health in Fergus Falls.


Cecelia, the daughter of Roy and Frances (Berger) Adams, was born Nov. 5, 1928 in Frazee. She was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and graduated from Frazee High School and St. Cloud School of Beauty Culture.

On May 27, 1949, she married Mervin (Murray) Swanson in Frazee. The couple resided in Glasgow, Mont., where they owned and operated H & S Surplus Store, which later became Swanson's Furniture & Surplus. In 1958 they moved to Fergus Falls, where they owned and operated Swanson's Surplus Store until retiring in 1985.

Pat was a member of the Fergus Falls Bowling Association, Pebble Lake Golf Course, Our Lady of Victory Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. She loved her family and was always there to help when needed.

Surviving Pat are her daughter, Kathleen (Keith) Jacobson, and son, Kenneth (Gail Farstad) Swanson, both of Fergus Falls; four granddaughters; four great grandchildren; a brother, LeRoy Adams of Frazee; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Mervin (Murray) Swanson (Oct. 29, 2007); her parents; four sisters, Frances, Ethel, Alicia and Marie; and five brothers, George, Earl, Joseph, James and Lawrence Adams.

The family prefers that memorials be sent to Lakeland Hospice.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls, with the Rev. Robert Kieffer and Sister Joyce Leibly officiating. There will be visitation for one hour prior to the start of services. Burial will take place at St. Otto's Catholic Cemetery.
