This informational workshop will address what business owners need to know to avoid making costly mistakes in the future.

The North Dakota Child Support Enforcement program will provide information on employer requirements in the areas of: reporting new hires, terminations, and lump sum payments; remitting child support payments (i.e., income withholding); and enrolling children in their parents' health insurance plans. This presentation will include demonstrations of a variety of online tools designed to make meeting these requirements easier.

Job Service North Dakota will introduce those attending to new features in jobsnd.com, North Dakota's premiere job exchange site. Use jobsnd.com to:

Locate job seekers throughout the nation who have registered to find jobs in North Dakota; expand your company's job listings via their 'spidering' feature; and run your own virtual recruiter and have job applicant matches sent directly to you via email.

They will also provide information on the Parental Responsibility Initiative for the Development of Employment (PRIDE) program, a collaborative effort with Child Support partners and a valuable resource for potential employees; and explain their role in the statewide Talent Initiative, a comprehensive approach to attracting, retaining and expanding North Dakota's workforce to meet your hiring needs. Labor Market Information and how it can be used to keep you competitive in the hiring and retention arena will round out their presentation.

The North Dakota Department of Labor will answer your questions regarding wage and hour and equal employment opportunity laws, including topics such as employment at-will, overtime pay, breaks, paid time off, deductions from pay, training time, travel time, discrimination and sexual harassment.

Cost is $40 per person for any local chamber or N.D. Chamber member, or $60 per person for any business that is not a member of either.

Registration can be completed by calling the N.D. Chamber at 800-382-1405 or visiting their Web site at www.ndchamber.com and clicking on Calendar of Events.
