Cornerstone Financial employees rally for United Way
Cornerstone Financial employees are banding together for an entire month and a half with activities serving to benefit a great local charitable organization - United Way of Cass-Clay.
They kicked off the festivities on Sept. 22, and will be continuing their show of support through the end of October with a goal to raise as much as possible to help assist local organizations funded by United Way contributions.
Every Friday, the group has been participating in a "Jeans for Charity' observance dressing casually and making a contribution.
Other events include: bingo games; a "Pizza and Pop for a Purpose" promotion with the pizza donated by the Pizza Ranch and the donation from employees a 100 percent contribution to United Way; and a cow race tournament, utilizing the Wii, set up in the training room.
Root beer floats will also be a part of the fun for everyone, and coming up on Oct. 8, they will all have the opportunity to draw their first card in a poker hand, with an additional card distributed each day to see who ends up with the best hand.
A bake sale and Cookie Lee jewelry will also be part of the action, as well as paper airplane races, a silent auction, a football game, and a 'lucky draw' where employees can earn extra time off or other prizes.
A Chili Cook-off, featuring four different kinds of chili, will also be highlighted with United Way officials doing the judging.
All in all, organizers say the promotion has been a rewarding and fun event and one they will look forward to again next year.
Cornerstone Financial is located at 2280 45th St. S, Fargo.
