David C. Roy, 95, of White Earth, died Thursday, December 14, 2007 at St. Mary's Nursing Center in Detroit Lakes.
David Charles Roy was born to Joseph and Mary Roy on Oct. 8, 1912 in White Earth. He married Susan Jackson in White Earth on Feb. 7, 1944. David served with the U. S. Army from March 22, 1944 to Nov. 18, 1945. Following his discharge, he returned to White Earth, where he worked in the woods and was a farm hand. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, trapping, harvesting wild rice and dancing.
David and Susan were proud of the fact that they once won a dance contest. Susan died in 1995, and David entered St. Mary's Nursing Center in Detroit Lakes in January 2003.
Survivors include his children, Joseph (Judy) Roy of White Earth, Alvin Roy of Duluth, Minn., and Trudy Ann Roy of St. Paul; four grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Susan, David was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 until the time of the service on Monday at St. Columba Episcopal Church in White Earth.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17 at St. Columba Episcopal Church. Interment will be in St. Columba Episcopal Cemetery.
