DECA Helps to Fill the Dome
Every year, thousands of students in the Red River Valley come together for Fill the Dome. Area high schools gather non-perishable food items in the FargoDome to donate to local food banks. West Fargo High School is just one area school involved and student body president Cole Bachmeier is leading the Fill the Dome efforts. As head of West Fargo’s Student Council and a member of many other student organizations, Bachmeier is excited for Fill the Dome and believes that West Fargo High School can be a lead contributor in the overall donation goal.
“Our (West Fargo High School) goal is to donate 12,500 cans which is an increase from last year’s goal. The overall goal of Fill the Dome is to feed half a million people,” said Bachmeier. With these goals in mind, Student Council has looked for help from other student organizations such as National Honor Society, FCCLA, and DECA. West Fargo’s DECA president Michael Holland is also a member of Student Council and has played a large role in the involvement of other organizations, especially DECA.“We encourage kids in DECA and other activities to fully give back to our community. The way we [DECA] help is by encouraging kids in DECA to bring cans… and also to volunteer at the actual event,” said Holland. If you wish to contribute to the donations, visit Fill the Dome’s website at fillthedome.org to donate online or find the drop-off zone nearest you.West Fargo High Schools students have established their Fill the Dome goals, hoping for student organization support.
