Dense fog advisory issued in Red River basin; motorists urged to use caution

FARGO - A dense fog advisory has been issued for eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota, including the Fargo-Moorhead metropolitan area.

The National Weather Service issued the advisory at 5:33 this morning, saying visibility will be reduced to a quarter mile or less.

Motorists are cautioned to slow down, use headlights and give plenty of stopping distance ahead of their vehicles.

The advisory is in effect until 10 a.m.

In Minnesota, counties affected by the advisory include Clay, Norman, Becker, Polk and Mahnomen, among others. In North Dakota, Cass, Barnes, Traill, Grand Forks, Walsh, Steele and Nelson counties are among some of the counties covered by the advisory.
