District 13 legislators promote chili, conversation

Legislators from West Fargo’s District 13 are inviting their constituents to join them for a bowl of chili and friendly conversation on Thursday afternoon.

“It’s a good way for folks in our community to visit with and get to know their legislators,” according to Sen. Judy Lee, Rep. Kim Koppelman, and Rep. Alon Wieland, who represent the district in the North Dakota Legislature.

The autumn tradition began several years ago and is being continued on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. at TNTs Diner in Westgo Square. The public is invited.

Often, people interact with their legislators only during legislative sessions or campaigns, the trio points out. The chili get together allows them to do so on a more personal level, when there’s no session or campaign going on.

There is no charge for the chili and the legislators are quick to point out that the event is not a fundraiser, either, but just an opportunity to stop by and chat.

“The weather is getting cooler, so what better time to warm up with a bowl of chili and some good conversation with the neighbors who represent you in Bismarck?” the legislators noted.
