Dwight Henry Carpenter
Dwight Carpenter, age 56, of Horace, N.D., died Sunday, June 19, 2011, at Sanford Health Palliative Care Unit in Fargo.
Dwight Henry Carpenter, the son of George and Maridenis (Loibl) Carpenter, was born Dec. 16, 1954 in Valley City, N.D. Dwight grew up in the Fingal, N.D. area and graduated from Fingal High School in 1973. After his graduation, he farmed with his brothers in the Fingal area and later went to Dakota Aero Tech where he became an A&P Mechanic for Fargo Aero Tech. On Nov. 21, 1975 he married Sharon E. Anderson in Brampton, N.D. Dwight and Sharon lived in Horace, where Dwight worked as the Public Works Director for many years. He also served as the Planning and Zoning Administrator. He took great pride and satisfaction with the roles he served in for the City of Horace. Dwight enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Dwight could visit with anyone and made new friends very easily. He was a very handy person who could fix anything - the greasier the job, the better. He was always helping people that were in need and would go out of his way to do so. He also loved hunting and being in the outdoors. Dwight was a member of the Horace Lions Club and received the Melvin Jones Award, something that he was extremely proud of. He also served as a volunteer fireman for the Horace Fire Department. There are not enough words to express how deeply his family loved him and how greatly they are going to miss him.
Dwight is survived by his wife Sharon; two children, Jody Carpenter and Adam Carpenter, all Horace; his mother, Maridenis Carpenter, Valley City, N.D.; one brother, Dean (Helen) Carpenter, Nome, N.D.; two sisters, Denise (Kevin) Larson, Naples, Fla. and Doreen (Ken) Gordon, Jamestown, N.D.; one granddaughter, Bailey Anne Carpenter, Horace; and many nieces and nephews.
