Eastwood Elementary students and staff presented a Veteran’s Day Celebration program to honor local veterans.

The second grade children decorated the halls with posters they created on why they are proud to be an American. West Fargo Mayor Rich Mattern was guest speaker while special guests were veterans and school board representative Judy Kvaale.

The VFW Color Guard presented the colors; and the fourth grade students led “The Pledge of Allegiance” and the singing of the “National Anthem,” “Grand Old Flag,” “Proud of Our Veterans” and “Say Thank You.”

One of the most moving parts of the presentation was during a music melody of all the branches of the military, each veteran stood as their branch song was sung. The second grade students handed the veterans letters of Thank You before the presentation ended with the song “The Hero in All of Us” and the exiting of the Color Guard.

A reception of muffins and coffee was help in the multipurpose room. Eastwood Elementary members say they are “proud of our veterans, the protection they give our country and the freedom they allow us.”
