Matthew DeVries, financial advisor at the Edward Jones office at 205 Sheyenne St., will be supporting an excellent cause during Cruise Night, Thursday, July 15, from 5 to 9 p.m., set to take place along Sheyenne Street between Seventh and Main Avenues. DeVries will be utilizing his Sheyenne Street business location to sell water bottles for $2 each, with proceeds going to the Rolfson Family Benefit fund. Additional donations will also be accepted at the time.
DeVries is promoting the sale of the 20 ounce bottles in cooperation with the committee that is planning a special benefit event for the Mike and Mary Ellen Rolfson family of West Fargo, on Tuesday, Aug. 10, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Nativity Church of Fargo, 1825 11th St. S.
Brayden Mikal Rolfson was born to Mike and Mary Ellen on April 27, 2010. Prior to his birth he was diagnosed with pulmonary atresia, which means he has there chambers in his heart instead of four. Brayden has already experienced two heart surgeries, as well as an additional surgery to implant a feeding tube. Over the next two years, he will require two additional shunt surgeries to increase his heart function.
The August 10 benefit will feature a free-will donation meal, kiddie games and activities, and a silent auction.
The proceeds will be used to defray Brayden's significant medical expenses, and help with dislocation expenses and missed wages, due to most of Brayden's medical care occurring out of town.
Those unable to purchase a water bottle during Cruise Night, or attend the special benefit on Aug. 10, can still make a contribution by mailing your donation to: BlackRidge Bank, c/o the Rolfson Family Beneift Fund, 4040 42nd St. SW, Suite 0, Fargo, ND 58104; or online through DMF Lend a Hand on the giveback site: www.dakmed.org/lendahand, click make a donation, click learn more/donate to individual/family funds, select Rolfson Family Benefit Fund.
