Eli Young Band tonight's grandstand headliner
"Make It A Play Date" is the theme for the 2012 Red River Valley Fair which opened to crowds yesterday and continues through Sunday, July 15, at the Fairgrounds located on the west edge of West Fargo.
Arch Allies rocked the bandstand Tuesday night and tonight's headliners promise to be equally as inviting.
Popular emerging country artists the Eli Young Band and Kip Moore will be hitting the stage at 8 p.m. as the replacement act for the Band Perry, who postponed their performance until 2013 because they are deep into album recording.
The lineup for the remainder of the Fair includes: Hairball, Thursday, July 12; Jerrod Niemann, Friday, July 13; Chevelle, Saturday, July 14; and Justin Moore, Sunday, July 15.
The acts are is free with paid gate admission: $7 for adults (ages 12 and older); $3 for children ages 6-11; and ages 5 and under free. All concerts will get underway at 8 p.m.
Also free with gate admission is the Beer Garden Entertainment featuring a variety of local groups with show times 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. and after the grandstand event until 1 a.m. nightly from July 10-13; and 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. with all ages welcome from 2 to 5 p.m. on July 14 and July 15.
Entertainers include: July 10, Rhyme or Reason; July 11, October Road; July 12, 24 Seven; July 13, Tripwire; July 14, Skyline; and July 15, The Roosters.
Brand new to the Fair this year is a Wine Garden open from 2 to 9 p.m. each day that will educate visitors on the process of winemaking; as well as provide samples of a variety of wines in an relaxing, outdoor sitting area.
The ever-popular Murphy Brothers Carnival is also back with rides galore; local talent will also be featured in performances at shows held throughout the Fair run on the Stop-N-Go stage located near the North end of the Fairgrounds; and the 4-H exhibits will better than ever in a new larger location in the 4-H Expo Center, formerly the Commercial Building.
The diversity of Fair food vendors will also prevail, with a little bit of everything is perhaps the best way to sum up the menu choices.
The Fair opens its gates at 11 a.m. each day. There is plenty of parking available.
