Woman riding bicycle killed in crash with SUV northwest of Fargo

Ervin A. Laber, 80, West Fargo, died on Thursday, June 30, 2011.

Ervin Alphonse Laber was born March 8, 1931 through the union of Mathilda Wild and Louis Laber in Carrington, N.D. He was raised at Sykeston, N.D. and graduated from Sykeston High School. He served in the United States Air Force from March 1952 to December 1955. He attended Dakota Business College. Ervin married H. Joan Peterson on Jan. 10, 1959 in East Grand Forks, Minn. He worked for W.H. Noel company which became Northern Improvement for more than 40 years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church since 1969, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Disabled American Veterans. He was interested in history and was a Twins and Vikings fan.

Ervin was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Louis, Henry and Clarence. 

He is survived by his wife, Joan; daughter, Patricia; son, Mark (Idalia); granddaughter, Laura; and sister, Viola (Sylvester) Sondag.

On Sunday, July 3, there was a Rosary service at 4:30 p.m., a prayer service followed with visitation until 7 p.m., all at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.

The Funeral was held Tuesday, July 5, at 9 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, West Fargo.

Burial was in the N.D. Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, N.D.
