Exchange News (Jan. 29)

Lance WilsonLance Wilson, a senior at West Fargo High School, has been named West Fargo Exchange Club Student of the Month for January. He is the son of Lee and Joan Wilson of Harwood. Wilson has maintained an unweighted GPA of 4.0, and has received an academic letter in each of the past three years. He earned a regional star for a marimba solo in 2012, and two regional stars for his performance in percussion ensembles in 2013. He also earned first place, both at the local and district level, in this year’s VFW Voice of Democracy competition.

As part of his church’s youth group, Wilson has volunteered at various food banks, as well as the local homeless shelter.

After graduating in May, Wilson plans to attend the University of North Dakota, majoring in atmospheric sciences.

With January being National Mentoring Month the Club decided to take on a new ongoing commitment. We have partnered with the West Fargo High School where we have ten of our members meeting with their mentees at the high school once every three weeks. This week they will have a short gathering for a presentation on Vision and Goal setting. Then spent the rest of the hour meeting with their mentee to review what they have set at as a SMART goal- one school related one non-school related.

The club recently funded several donation requests: the Chamber of Commerce, Hope Inc. and the Red River Children’s Advocacy.

The club meets every Tuesday at noon at the WF Speedway Event Center. More information is available on their website at:
