Faith Lutheran honors retiring Rev. Peter Schmidt
The Faith Lutheran Church Community will say goodbye to longtime pastor the Rev. Peter Schmidt on Sunday during a program at the church.
Schmidt, who has served at the head of Faith Lutheran Church for 24 years retired last week. During his tenure at the church, Schmidt has been an outspoken proponent for social justice and his church in the community. He was instrumental in the church’s plans to expand to a second site, the Journey in Faith Campus at 650 40th Ave. E., West Fargo, and has watched the Faith Lutheran congregation grow to more than 3,050 members today.
He and his wife Vicki have three adult children and have served as foster parents for more than 100 children over 32 years.
His wife, Vicki, has served as an administrative assistant in the church’s office and as pianist for the church for much of Schmidt’s 24 years in West Fargo as well.
All are welcome to attend a ceremony honoring Schmidt’s many contributions to the church and community at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Faith Lutheran Church, 127 2nd Ave. E., West Fargo. After the program, attendees are invited to join the Schmidt’s for refreshments in the Fellowship Hall at the church.
