District 16 is a new legislative district to the area that represents parts of West Fargo and Fargo.

"This is a very important time for North Dakota and for our metropolitan area," Ben Koppelman said. "Our state is in excellent shape, in a nation suffering from economic recession, and our region is gaining influence in the North Dakota Legislature, through new districts like District 16."

Rep. Kim Koppelman, also a republican, is the President and CEO of Koppleman & Associates. In December, Rep. Kim Koppelman announced his candidacy for the United States Congress. He is seeking the state's lone seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. He has served for 17 years in the North Dakota Legislature, and is the past Chairman of the Council of State Governments.

Ben Koppelman began his

term as president for the West Fargo School Board in July, and has served as a board member since 2008.  He also is a member of the North Dakota State Electrical Board.

Professional, Ben Koppelman is a home builder and currently owns and operates two area businesses that do work in the construction field. He has been in business in the construction industry for 11 years.

"North Dakota's success is due, in part, to our rich resources, but is also built upon sound fiscal policy, limited government, and opportunity--a course which we must continue," Ben Koppelman said. "It's exciting to be part of our growth and prosperity. I want to give our community greater representation in the legislature and build upon the success we're enjoying."

Ben Koppelman is a West Fargo native, and he and his wife, Julie, have two children.
