Fire Department receives funding for training equipment
The West Fargo Fire Department is one step closer to securing money for training equipment and will also be attending a fire school thanks to recent donations from officials from Monsanto Company, 304 Center St., West Fargo.
Site Manager Vic Nordstrom and Site Safety Director Evan Punt, representing Monsanto, presented two checks in the amount of $3,000 and $2,500, which will be used respectively for attending fire schooling at Texas A&M and for purchasing a projector for fire prevention and training. Assistant Fire Chief Dell Sprecher and Fire Inspector Kendel Frost accepted the contributions on behalf of the Department last Thursday at the Fire Hall.
Sprecher said the Department has been contacting local entities requesting funds to help cover the cost of the training equipment which includes a laptop computer, a projector, and fire simulation program software valued at approximately $6,000.
In addition to the generous Monsanto contribution, the Fire Department has also received two $1,000 donations from DMI Industries, 420 E. Main Ave., that will go toward the training equipment.
"We are very appreciative of the generous response from these businesses. These donations go a long way towards realizing our project package for fire prevention and training," Sprecher said.
