As has been the case for the past several years, the annual Firefighter's Ball, will be the concluding West Fest activity Saturday evening from 8 p.m. until midnight in a brand new, more convenient location - the Veterans Memorial Arena, located at 1201 7th Ave. E.
Observing its 72nd annual event, the ball continues to play a key role in the department's operation, with the proceeds basically used to help out the volunteers, including the purchase of dress uniforms, funding the annual spring awards banquet and fireman's picnic, and to purchase some of the training equipment used in the fire hall.
West Fargo Fire Chief Roy Schatschneider said the firefighters are happy to have their annual celebration tied into West Fest as the capping event.
"The ball has been taking place many, many years and it's a great event for family and friends coming back to get together and just have a fun night. We hope the change of venue will increase the amount of enjoyment everyone has and hopefully, because of it, we will see more people attending."
Tickets will be $5 at the door and they are also available in advance from any firefighter. The dance is open to those 21 years of age and older. Those attending are welcome to take their own refreshments and food, as none will be available.
