Packers football standout Ross Montgomery signed a Dakota Athletic Conference letter of intent to play for the Jimmies this fall.

Montgomery, a 6-foot-2, 235-pound offensive lineman with West Fargo, will shift gears and play defense for the Jimmies.

"We feel Ross has a tremendous upside as a defensive end in our system," said Bud Etzold, Jamestown College football coach. "We're particularly impressed with his athleticism and his ability to run."

Last season with West Fargo, Ross was named to the All-EDC team, All-State second team and was honored as Best Offensive Lineman by the Packers.

West Fargo, which finished 4-1 in the Eastern Dakota Conference and was 7-4 overall, made it to the Class 3A semifinals before falling to Bismarck 42-14.

Ross is the son of Cheryl and the late Todd Montgomery.
