Fredricks takes top honors in national competition
Martin Fredricks, owner of Fredricks Communications, West Fargo, has earned the top award in the 2009 National Federation of Press Women (NFPW) communication competition, presented at the organization's annul conference in San Antonio on September 12.
The Sweepstakes Award is based on a point system for the number of wins and places in the competition, as well as the number of entries in each category. Fredricks was the second runner-up in the Sweepstakes category in the 2008 competition and first runner-up in 2006.
Fredricks and his collaborators earned four first place and two second place awards. They recognize advertising and marketing materials developed for Advertising Marketing, Fargo, and its client, Fargo Jet Center, Fargo; Dawson Insurance, Fargo; and Jubae Design, Fargo, and its clients, Broadwind Energy, Naperville, Ill. and Tower Tech Systems, Manitowoc, Wis. The materials included print advertisements, Web site content, a newsletter, newsletter editing and a direct mail piece. Collaborators on the winning entries included Travis Kurtz, John Petersen and John Holland, Advertising Marketing; Kim LePage Briss, Jubae; Ellen Shafer, Shafer Public Relations; Steve Rezac, Rezac Design Studio; and Dayna DelVal, freelance writer.

NFPW, a national organization of professional journalists and communicators, both women and men, recognizes excellence in communications among its members through the annual competition. To be entered in the national contest, which is judged by professionals from across the United States, a piece needs to earn first place at the state level. Fredricks is a member of the North Dakota Professional Communicators.
