Former Minneapolis resident Gerald E. "Bud" Engstrom, 69, of Detroit Lakes, died Sunday, March 9, 2008 at his residence.
Gerald E. Engstrom, known as "Bud," was born to Edwin and Alma (Kyllo) Engstrom on May 8, 1938. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1960 and married Lois Ratz in Detroit Lakes that same summer. Following his service in the U.S. Army, he returned to Minneapolis, where he taught at the University of Minnesota and several Twin Cities area vocational-technical colleges. He was actively involved in youth activities at Golden Valley (Minn.) Lutheran Church.
Bud is survived by his children, Beth (Bruce) O'Brien, Kimberly (Andrew) Marceau and Michael (Suzanne) Engstrom, four grandchildren and their mother/grandmother, Lois Engstrom; two brothers, Robert (Phyllis) Engstrom and James (Alice) Engstrom; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Edwin and Alma Engstrom.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, March 14 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in rural Audubon. There will be visitation for one hour prior to the start of services at the church.
Memorials are preferred sent to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or an organization of the donor's choice.
