Girls' hockey wins 10 straight

Before Friday night, the West Fargo girls' hockey team had not played a game in two weeks, and they lost absolutely no momentum. They beat the Minot Magicians 8-0 on Friday night, then topped the Williston Coyotes 10-0 on Saturday afternoon to win their 10th consecutive game and remain undefeated on the season.

Rachael Monkman, Kourtney Lothspeich, Kelly Krahn and Tori Holland all scored a goal within eight minutes of each other to bring the score to 5-0 before the first intermission.

The team had 56 shots on goal.

In Saturday's game against Williston, Krahn had two goals in two minutes in both the first and second periods.

The Packers got five goals from Krahn and three (two on the power play) from Holland. Senior forward Hayley Walsh had a game-high five assists.

Goalie Andrea Klug stopped all 14 shots that she faced.

For the second game in a row, the Packers reached the 50-shots plateau.

So far, Walsh leads the team with 40 points on the season. She has scored 19 goals and 21 assists. Krahn is second with 20 goals and 8 assists.

The 10-0-0 Packers will host the Devils Lake Firebirds on Friday night at 7:30 p.m., and then host the Fargo North Spartans on Tuesday, also at 7:30 p.m.
