Golfers take third, first
The Packers boys golf team ended its regular season with the best average score in the Eastern Dakota Conference. They finished third at Rose Creek Golf Course on Thursday with a score of 311, then finished first at the Bois de Sioux Golf Course in Wahpeton on Friday with a score of 315.
Senior Riley Johnson continued to chip away at his average score with two more first-place finishes. He shot a 70 at Rose Creek and a 68 – tied for his season-best score – at Bois de Sioux.
His average 18-hole score of 71.86 is an impressive six strokes ahead of Fargo North’s Zach Sklebar, who is currently ranked second in the EDC.
Johnson’s brother Cole managed to get the team’s second-best score in both meets, shooting a 78 on Thursday and an 82 on Friday.
Junior Drew Conzemius was the model of consistency, shooting an 82 in both meets.
Senior Nathan Kapaun finished with a score of 87 on Thursday and an 83 on Friday.
The team returns to Bois de Sioux today for the East Regional Tournament.
