Great Plains Food Bank receives donation from Thrivent Financial
The East Cass County chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans recently donated $1,000 to the Great Plains Food Bank. The funding is part of a $76,000 grant given by Thrivent Financial's regional financial offices in Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin to thank its volunteers and to support Minnesota FoodShare.
Thrivent chapters - local members that gather for charitable, social and educational activities - received funding based on the number of activities they sponsored that supported the community in 2009. Additional funding ranged from $500-$1,000 per qualifying chapter.
"We are proud of the charitable, social and educational activities performed by our members," said Joy Peterson, manager of services for Thrivent Financial's 116 chapters across Minnesota Division. "This funding recognizes the good work our members every day to improve people's lives and do good in their communities."
The East Cass County Chapter is led by President Rachel Clark, Fargo. She leads a volunteer board of Thrivent members who allocate Thrivent Financial funding and volunteer activity in support of local needs.
