As the letter below, points out this is National Library Week, and what better time to play up the important role our local libraries play in communities throughout the nation.
In West Fargo, library services and offerings continue to grow by leaps and bounds, thanks to a dedicated core staff, bent on implementing and promoting new programming on an ongoing basis for the interaction and enjoyment of all interests and age levels; and by continuing to look for ways to better serve the citizens by expanding its collection of materials and providing additional technology.
Because of this proactive programming and updated inventory stance, last year saw what could be described as record growth, with a 21-percent increase in items checked out, a 20-percent increase in computer use, a 12-percent increase in active patrons, and a whopping 31-percent increase in total attendance at a variety of event and service activities.
The West Fargo Public Library is located in the Lodoen Community Center at 109 3rd St. E., still known to many as the old West Fargo Middle School building.
It's a beautiful facility, and for those of you who haven't taken the time to check out the resources it has to offer, this week would be an excellent starting point to acquaint yourself. In fact, the perfect way to spend a morning or afternoon with a little free time on your hands.
